Ombra su Palazzo Reale

As I said last Tuesday the San Lorenzo's Church took at sunset is linked with this photo (took few min later) that shows Royal Palace with San Lorenzo's Church shadow *exactly* in the centre of its façade :-)

Sunset just back to San Lorenzo's Church. I showed many time San Lorenzo's Church realized by Guarino Guarini (HERE to see it inside -dome- and at sunset again) but this photo is linked to the next one I will go to publish Thursday. Keep in mind that at the end of the porticos just on the right there's Royal Palace...

Just out of the Royal Palace's gate, on the right in Piazza Castello (known as Medals Plaza during Olympic games), there's the San Lorenzo's church. Though its front look like most an ordinary house (in fact we called it "the church without front"), inside its wonderful dome has been designed by Guarino Guarini. We'll see it in future. This church it is considered one the most important monument of Italian Baroque.

In Piazza Castello watching to Palazzo Reale (Royal Palace) there's on the left S. Lorenzo Church. Absolutely to see the dome designed by Guarino Guarini that designed the Church too in an octagonal plan. Soon I'll punlish a photo of this extraordinary dome.

Many time ago I showed San Lorenzo Curch taken by night (HERE). This one shows how it looks like at sunset. Guarino Guarini designed it and it's simply wonderful the dome and the lantern (HERE).

San Lorenzo the Dome part 2

Torino, photo inside the Church San Lorenzo. As promised, to better realize how the dome and the lantern are set, I publish this other photo taken beside the altar.

Another picture in a diverse perspective of S. Lorenzo Church. I love contrast of lights between façade of buildings and dome. This church has been designed by Guarino Guarini and I'll publish a photo taken inside. Further details (in English): HERE.

San Lorenzo the watch

I showed many time (inside and outside) the church of San Lorenzo and today I am going to show yout its unusual clock. In the meantime I recall those are living in countries that adopt D.S.T. (Daylight Saving Time) to adjust backward one hour their watches tonight (at 3:00am of tomorrow to be precise).

I showed many time San Lorenzo's Church realized by Guarino Guarini (inside the unique dome and the lantern HERE and outside HERE) but today I would like you give a look on two details: the two clock -just at basement of the dome-. On left the traditional one, on the right the sundial.

San Lorenzo the Dome

Torino, photo of a detail in the Church San Lorenzo. The detail concern the dome. The church has been originally designed by Ascanio Vitozzi and Carlo di Castellamonte but his definitive outlook -how we see it now- is thanks to the genius of Guarino Guarini. The dome it's very particular with those 8 ribs that go to form an octagon. It is surrounded by eight windows and the second one (lantern) by six. Please give a look to the second higher dome (the lantern) where ribs go to build a eight points star in armony with first dome. --- To better realize this particular architecture I'll post along this week another photo taken by one side of the Church.

Sunset from Palazzo Madama

This is a sunset from Palazzo Madama in a shiny night. In front there's S. Lorenzo (<--look the Guarini's dome) church and on the right the Royal Palace

San Lorenzo the dome

I published more than one photo about the San Lorenzo Church. Please check them HERE, HERE and especially HERE. Its dome has been designed by Guarino Guarini and it's very particular with those 8 ribs that go to form an octagon. The dome is surrounded by eight windows and the second one (lantern) by six. Please give a look to the second higher dome (the lantern) where ribs go to build a eight points star in armony with first dome. -- To better realize this particular architecture I'll post tomorrow a photo taken by one side of the Church.

The night of shooting stars

In Italy on 10th of August is San Lorenzo's night, the night of shooting stars and people are used to express a wish when see one of them. In this photo, if you enlarge it, there's not exactly a star but a planet: Venus. Anyway I hope you will realize each of your desire :-) --- Tomorrow same photo (taken from Mole Antonelliana) more close to some building.

Piazza Castello

Piazza Castello. The centre of Torino during the night. I showed some photo of this place and about some of its monumet: Palazzo Madama, Palazzo Reale, Chiesa di San Lorenzo. This one doesn't show anything else other than quiet and calm sense of the night.

La Consolata 1

From the church to a cafe. La Consolata is another work by Guarino Guarini like the Cathedral and the church of San Lorenzo. Honestly speaking just to see Barocco Piemontese and Guarini's work Torino worth to be visited. Last but not the least this church is situated in this small place where was born il Bicerin.... All to taste ! --- More to come.

--- Continua. --- circa i collegamenti cfr. l'edizione inglese.

Galleria Umberto I

Built around 1890 by Lorenzo Rivetti, "Galleria Umberto I" was born where once there was Mauriziano's Hospital. Of course it comes out, another time, the Liberty style.

I took and showed many photo of this church but from different angles. It's the Sanctuary of Maria Consolatrice more popular in Torino as "La Consolata". It's another building realized by Guarino Guarini as the Torino's Cathedral and the magnificent San Lorenzo's Church.

One of people's favourite part of Torino

One of people's favourite part of Torino is this corner. In front the dome of S.Lorenzo's Church (by Guarino Guarini) in piazza Castello, on the right: piazzetta Reale and Palazzo Reale (Royal Palace) with, in the background: the dome of the Cathedral of Torino. The best? At same time I got this photo: at blue time, when Torino is blue !

San Lorenzo the dome 1

As promised, to better realize how the dome and latern are set, I publish this photo taken not exactly under the dome (as yesterday I did) but beside the altar, in fact you can see the organ that usually is put at first floor over the entrance.
