500 Giannini TV

As you can see the two-cylinder engine is back. The original 500 was completely convertible (afterwards just only sunroof). 500 was built and assembled in Torino but Giannini was in Rome. This one in photo has the original luggage rack too. A last tip: TV means "Turismo Veloce" (speed tourism). HERE <-- the story of Giannini Automobiles S.p.A. (unfortunately only in Italian).

500 Giannini TV

Isn't she cute? Yesterday I was so lucky to meet the owner and to be able to take a couple of photo. The 500 Giannini TV came out from 500 Fiat (Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino). 500 has been probably the most popular and amusing and... cosy city car ever known. Giannini worked on the engine increasing the power... Keep an eye on values ;-) From 25HP to 29HP !!!!!! --- Tomorrow the back view and more news :-)

This photo shows a detail of Galleria Grande at Reggia di Venaria (also said "of Diana" because it links Palace of Diana -the 'Reggia'- with Stables) . Completely revised by Filippo Juvara in 1716, he conceived it as a "theatre of light". This oval windows, one per each arch-opening below them, were in fact added by Juvarra to increase light into the Arcade. --> HERE you can see altogether the oval windows.

Beautiful buildings

In this series of beautiful buildings in Torino that I am going to show time to time, this one is on the corner between Corso Galileo Ferraris and Corso Luigi Einaudi. The photo shows how the building curves in harmony with "the round" of the wide stretch

Art Nouveau

Torino, as I said many times, is plenty of building designed following the Art Nouveau style. In this photo a wonderful house on the corner between corso Sommeiller and corso Re Umberto.

When the moon...

When the moon lighting up the night, this is the scenary on the top of Lingotto on the track test where I took the photo. In 1985 the architect Renzo Piano was chosen to revise the first Fiat Factory in Torino designed between 1916 and 1922 by Giacomo Mattè Trucco. Lingotto was loved by Le Corbusier that defined it "one of the most impressive sights in industry" in his manifesto: "Vers une architecture".

Number three: The engineer

The last one: "The engineer" because he spent *lot of time* doing "experiments" with his pushchair (or stroller) into water... It was delightful to see his dad to let him to do his experiments without to stop him but just keeping a careful eye :-)

Norberto Bobbio

I took this photo in Torino at no. 82 of via Roma: "La Stampa - bookstore" where the poster is behind a closed-door. It shows a quote got from "Politica e Cultura" (1955, by Norberto Bobbio). Norberto Bobbio was probably the greatest philosopher of the twentieth century in Italy. The quote says: "Today, more than ever, cultured men have the duty to raise doubts rather than collect certitudes"... It's so actual especially if compared to those narrow-minded men so plenty of certitudes.
