House, another...

I'm so sorry about that lamppost that unfortunately cover part of the house... I like this house because its roof quite strange (it seems there's a sort of balcony but it isn't).

Bow Window 1

As promised I publish today the photo about that house with so strange bow window. Unfortunately I've got it with my compact camera (no wide angle) and the street was narrow too. Anyway I like those two arch balconies at last floor that give together something of original to whole house. An old fashioned house.

"House or Castle" part 2.

Answering to Kate question the decorative work over the main door of the house I published yesterday, is done by tiles. For sure I need an extra-blog to publish more photo and I'm sorry to publish another photo of same house but, honestly, enlarging the original of the photo, me as first I am impressed of beauty of this mosaic. So, I thought to share it...

Just an Angle

I could crop it to take the pink house in foreground but I didn't so you can see how perspective plays an important role in this case where the pink house it's just placed as a top in the angle. --- Nice week-end to everyone !

--- Buon fine settimana a tutti !

A house on the hill

Of course thare are many houses on the Torino hill's. Anyway few days ago I liked to take a photo of this one (I suggest you to enlarge the image) because I loved its architecture. It seems some Palladio villa (White House in Washington is inpired to Andrea Palladio architecture).

Royal Opera House

The photo shows how look inside the Torino Royal Opera House. Considered that the original was completely destroyed by fire in 1936, this one has been completely rebuilt by Carlo Mollino in 1973. Wikipedia history (in English) about Teatro Regio of Torino HERE

Looking for Dolly

This is not that classic photo to promote and to show Torino. I saw it yesterday at bus stop and it touched me a lot. Often happen to see announce like this but this one is different and let understand that they went to choose it at municpal dog-house. This also means their love to forsaken pets... I would really like to help them.

""We've lost a small female dog by Fiat Motor Village. She's very young, white with her pretty face and ears quite brown. She's frightened but very sweet and "good girl". She was just come out from municipal dog house so her name is Dolly but actually she doesn't recognize any name with whom you call her. If you see her please call one of below numbers. We will provide to a recompense.""

Aiutiamoli a trovare Dolly.

The oldest house

That one in the background in this photo is considered one of the oldest house in Torino. As you can see it has been revised in many different styles along centuries.

E' possibile osservare i diversi apporti stilistici lungo i secoli.

Freedom of the Press

Talking about Freedom of the Press, Freedom House reports that Italy on 2009: ""slipped back into the Partly Free category with free speech limited by courts and libel laws, increased intimidation of journalists by organized crime and far-right groups, and concerns over the concentration of media ownership."" This the reason 'cause in Rome last saturday there was a demonstration with over 300,000 people. This photo shows people in Piazza Carignano in Torino beside the Rome's demonstration. --- And Yessss the other guy is Livio Bonino: Torino per Immagini's blogger. Of course we met at the demonstration !!!

Red House

Well I called it "Red House" 'cause I don't know what actually it is (offices, museum, apartments ... else?). I was in hurry and I took the photo just because I loved it but I didn't have enough time to discover its actual use. I'll be back there :-)

Bow Window

This is another liberty house I saw some days ago. Could be interesting to notice the bow window with those two small balconies. But, if you watch carefully, each floor is different. Tomorrow I'll publish another photo of same house taken from a different position. (By the way it is in via Piffetti).

(Casa sita in via Piffetti).

Royal Dinner

I have been invited at dinner... Where? At Royal Palace "ça va sans dire" :-) --- Torino is where House of Savoy had their residence since around 1100 (more or less) until 1946. To get some detail about the House of Savoy on Wikipedia HERE (in English).

Sono stato invitato a cena... Dove?

House or Castle?

Liberty

On the corner with Corso Fiume and via Bicocca, there's this wondeful house.

Chiesa di San Lorenzo

Just out of the Royal Palace's gate, on the right in Piazza Castello (known as Medals Plaza during Olympic games), there's the San Lorenzo's church. Though its front look like most an ordinary house (in fact we called it "the church without front"), inside its wonderful dome has been designed by Guarino Guarini. We'll see it in future. This church it is considered one the most important monument of Italian Baroque.

House or Castle 2

I showed time ago (12ve of June) other houses that suggested this "dilemma". This one is another. By the way they're houses where actually live more families.

Ho mostrato tempo fa (12 Giugno) altre case the suggerivano questo "dilemma".

Entrance

Yes this is the main entrance of an old building in Corso Francia in Torino. It seems architecturally heavy and "baroquish" = over elaborate. HoveverI sure you all it's fine and tomorrow I will post a daily photo of it and the house too.

Caffè Regio in via Po, 3 has been totally renewed last October keeping alive the refined atmosphere it always had. Just at the other side of Regio (Royal) Opera House, you can find some good pastries or an excellent espresso. Tomorrow, the first floor.

The photo shows how many people were in line to attend free rehearsal at Royal Opera House last Saturday in Torino. They played for free to protest against the new cut of money operated by this clownish Governement...
