Borgo Medievale - Entrance

Talking about Valentino park some days ago I also showed how Borgo Medievale was enlighted during Olympic Winter Games. This is the entrance of it. At the left, in fact, there's the main entrance to the rebuilt borgo (village) and in front the promenade along the river PO where it's possible to take the boat and to navigate on the river along the city.

Palrando del parco del Valentino qualche giorno fa ho altresì mostrato come il Borgo Medievale venne illuminato durante I Giochi Olimpici Invernali. Questo è il so ingresso. Alla sinistra infatti c'è l'ingresso principale al ricstruito Borgo mentre, di fronte, v'è la passeggiata lungo il PO dove è possibile prendere il battello e navigare sul fiume lungo la città.

Bow Window 1

As promised I publish today the photo about that house with so strange bow window. Unfortunately I've got it with my compact camera (no wide angle) and the street was narrow too. Anyway I like those two arch balconies at last floor that give together something of original to whole house. An old fashioned house.

Come promesso pubblico oggi la fotografia circa quella casa con quello strano bovindo. Sfortunatamente la foto è stata scattata con la macchina compatta (senza grand'angolo) e la strada, inoltre, era stretta. In ogni caso mi piacciono quei due balconi ad arco all'ultimo piano che conferiscono alla casa un insieme originale. Una vecchia casa ricca di fascino.

Bow Window

This is another liberty house I saw some days ago. Could be interesting to notice the bow window with those two small balconies. But, if you watch carefully, each floor is different. Tomorrow I'll publish another photo of same house taken from a different position. (By the way it is in via Piffetti).

Questa è un'altra casa in stile liberty che ho vito qualche giorno fa. Potrebbe essere interessante osservare il bovindo con quei due piccoli balconi ma, se si osserva con attenzione, ogni piano è diverso. Domani pubblicherò un'altra fotografia della stessa casa presa da un'altra poszione. (Casa sita in via Piffetti).

Colourful Valentino

Though I prefer night or sunset photo and those took in Winter in rainy or in foggy days, I like this one took last week at Valentino the oldest and most wide park in Torino.

Sebbene io preferisca le fotografie notturne o al tramonto come quelle prese in Inverno in giornate piovose o nebbiose, mi piace questa scattata la scorsa settimana al Valentino il più vecchio e vasto dei parchi di Torino.

Borgo Medievale

In 1884 in the Valentino park was built for the International Italian Expo the Medieval Village where the Castle is a copy of Fenis Castle in Valle d'Aosta. During Winter Olympic Games, last year, they enlighted it in a very suggestive way, so, PLEASE, follow my suggest and CLICK HERE then click on one random thumbnail and you will see the automatic composition colour changement of lights (to get best result it's enough to wait to complete a cycle of 8 photos then it loops).

Nel 1884 nel parzo del Valentino venne costruito in occasione dell'Esposizione Internazionale il Borgo Medievale dove il Castello è copia del Castello di Fenis in Valle d'Aosta. Durante I Giochi Olimpici Invernali, lo scorso anno, il Borgo venne illuminato in modo alquanto suggestivo, sicché, PER CORTESIA, seguite il mio consiglio e CLICCATE QUI per poi cliccare su una delle immagini a caso e vedrete automaticamente il cambio delle varie combinazioni di colore (per ottenere il miglior risultato è sufficiente attendere il completamento di un ciclo di 8 fotografie).

Corso Stati Uniti

Oh well "Stati Uniti" simply is "United States". In the background there's the hill that along all river Po "stare" at the city and it's possble to see it almost everywhere in Torino

Da corso Stati Uniti è possibile vedere bene a collina che si staglia sullo fondo. In pratica da ogni punto della città è possibile vederla.

Torino...

Uhm how to call it? I don't know. There are many of them in the city and they was posed in February when Winter Universiade started. I think it would look like a sort of tree.

Uhm come chiamarlo? Non lo so. Ce ne sono molti e vennero posati in città nel mese di Febbraio quando ebbe inizio l'Universiade Invernale. Credo voglia assomigliare ad una specie di albero stilizzato.

Corso Unità d'Italia

Translated it means "Unity of Italy" because along this "Corso" (boulevard in French and in English) in 1961 there was the International Expo of the first century since Unity of the country. Unfortunately it's only in Italian but it's very interesting to see images 46 years old clicking HERE (click on "immagini" or "video"). Next appointment will be the International Expo in 2011 where you all will be very welcomed here. -- On the right it's possible to see Palavela where there was Figure Skating in last Olympic Winter Games.

Si chiama Unità d'Italia in onore all'Esposizione nternazionale che si tenne nel 1961 in occasione del primo centenario dell'Unità d'Italia. Da QUESTO sito è interessante vedere alcune immagini dell'epoca. Il prossimo appuntamento sarà l'Expo Internazionale del 2011. Sulla destra è il Palavela ove ci furono le gare di pattinaggio artistico durante gli scorsi Giochi Olimpici Invernali.

At TV

Well, someone seeing this photo taken from tv-news Sunday evening, could say that it doesn't match at all with Torino (daily photo). It's not completely true. Torino is far only 100 Km (62.13 Miles) from France and we watch carefully to their election. Then I would like to recognize to French people my very small tribute to a country where more than 70 % of people went to vote. As French people would say: "Chapeaux" --- Ah, I must admit I would like that Ségolène Royal would win Presidential Election.

Bene, qualcuno vedendo questa foto scattata da un notiziario televisivo Domenica sera, potrebbe dire che nulla ha a che vedere con Torino (daily photo). Non è del tutto vero. Torino dista solo 100 Km dalla Francia e pertanto guardiamo con attenzione alla loro elezioni. Mi piace poi riconoscere ai Francesi il mio piccolo tributo ad una nazione in cui oltre il 70% degli aventi diritto al voto è andato a votare. Come gli stessi Francesi direbbero: "Chapeaux" --- Ah, devo ammettere mi picerebbe che Ségolène Royal vincesse le elezioni Presdienziali.

Chiesa di Santa Rita da Cascia

This is one on several churches in Torino. It's quite popular and in May (22nd) they sell red roses because "the rose" is Saint Rita flower. I personally don't like this church because of so big bell tower and the church seems to be built around.

Questa è una delle molte chiese in Torino. E' piuttosto conosciuta e nel mese di maggio (il 22) viene venduta una rosa rossa perché "la rosa" è il fiore di Santa Rita. A me peronalmente non piace molto questa chiesa per via del suo immenso campanile attorno al quale sembra che la chiesa sia stata costruita.

Castello del Valentino

It's called "Valentino's Castle" and it was built around 1500. Last year it was "Casa Italia" during Olympic Games. It is in the middle of Valentino's park. HERE further details about it.

Il Castello del Valentino venne costruito nel corso del 1500. Lo scorso anno era "Casa Italia" durante i Giochi Olimpici. E' situato al centro del parco del Valentino. QUI maggiori dettagli.

Valentino

This is the first of some photo I'll go to dedicate to Valentino one of most wide park in Torino. 550thousand square meter, designed by Jean-Pierre Barillet Deschamps (a French landscapist) around 1861 when Torino was Capital of Italy. This photo has been taken from Valentino Park in front of the river Po (the most long of Italy). At the other side the hillside that run all along the river.

Questa è la prima di alcune delle foto che andrò a dedicare al Valentino uno dei più vasti parchi in Torino. 550mila metri quadrati, disegnato da Jean-Pierre Barillet Deschamps (paesaggista francese) attorno al 1861 quando Torino era Capitale d'Italia. Questa fotografia è stata scattata dal parco del Valentino di fronte al fiume Po (il più lungo d'Italia). Dall'altro lato la collina che corre lungo tutto il fiume.

Corso Re Umberto 1

That the house. As you can see there's this sort of tower in the corner that links the two houses (the second in the small street). I asked at concierge and the lady told me that lift is in since 1912. So, in other words, it was built at the beginning of last century.

Quella è la casa. Come si può vedere c'è una sorta di torre che funge da elemento di collegamento tra le due case tra loro molto simili. La portinaia mi ha chiarito che il libretto dell'ascensore contiene il riferimento al 1912 E' pertanto lecito presumere che il palazzo venne costruito all'inizio dello scorso secolo.
