San Lorenzo the dome

I published more than one photo about the San Lorenzo Church. Please check them HERE, HERE and especially HERE. Its dome has been designed by Guarino Guarini and it's very particular with those 8 ribs that go to form an octagon. The dome is surrounded by eight windows and the second one (lantern) by six. Please give a look to the second higher dome (the lantern) where ribs go to build a eight points star in armony with first dome. -- To better realize this particular architecture I'll post tomorrow a photo taken by one side of the Church.

    Beautiful! The dome reminds me of looking through a kaleidoscope and seeing the symmetrical geometric designs.

    This is a really beautiful photo, and really needs to be seen enlarged. The colours glow and give it a special quality. The framing is perfect as well. Of course the architecture demands a great photo. Was this hand-held?

    @ Richard, yes. Unfortunately yes. I realized into the church I needed a tripod. Not having it, I set 1000 ISO (then lens are with Vibration Reduction). If you would like to see the original (3872x2592 pixel) let me know.

    Well it's not normally allowed to use a tripod in churches and the like without permission - I thought you might have laid it on the floor. For handheld it's superb
