Il Duomo 1

I published months ago another photo (HERE) about the Torino Cathedral. As most of people know it is hosted there what is called "The Holy Shroud". I have to find a photo of it and I'll scan and publish. The Duomo's chapel (by Guarino Guarini) is very beautiful but unfortunately fire destroyed lot of it in 1997 and work to restore it didn't finish yet. You may take a look also by this webcam.

Ho pubblicato mesi fa un'altra fotografia (QUI) circa il Duomo di Torino. Come molti sanno presso il Duomo si trova ciò che viene chiamato "il sacro lenzuolo". Devo cercare una sua foto da acquisire digitalmente e pubblicare. La sua Cappella è molto bella (del Guarini) ma sfortunatamente un incendio nel 1997 ne distrusse buona parte e i lavori di restauro non sono ancora terminati. C'è modo di vedere il Duomo anche attraverso questa webcam.

2.113.128 people passed in front of the Shroud of Turin (as is called abroad). Yesterday at 4pm the closing ceremony with the Archbishop of Torino Severino Poletto. The Holy Shroud will be keeped in the Cathedral of Torino until next exhibition. The photo shows part of the path for arriving to the Cathedral --- In past days I often thought to go there to take single photo of people but, once there, I realized that to take those kind of photos should have been unfair. In some way I would have put my nose in their personal feeling.

2.113.128 pellegrini hanno fatto visita alla Sacra Sindone. Ieri alle 16, alla presenza dell'Arcivescovo di Torino Severino Poletto la solenne cerimonia di chiusura. Il Sacro Lino verrà custodito nel Duomo di Torino sino alla prossima ostensione. La foto mostra parte del percorso di avvicinamento al Duomo. --- Nei giorni scorsi ho spesso pensato di fotografare i volti dei pellegrini ma, una volta là, mi sono accorto che quel genere di foto sarebbe stata sleale. In qualche modo avrei violato i loro sentimenti.

Duomo e Porte Palatine

On the left the Cathedral of Torino and, on the right, Palatine Towers that were one of four city gates to the Romanesque structure of Augusta Taurinorum the Romanesque city actually known as Torino.

Alla sinistra il Duomo di Torino e, alla destra, le Porte Palatine che vennero costruite nel I secolo a.c. Erano uno dei quattro ingressi alla struttura romanica che prendeva il nome di Augusta Taurinorum, oggi conosciuta come Torino.

Duomo di Torino

This is the Cathedral of Torino dedicated to San Giovanni Battista the patron Saint of the city. Built the first time at beginning of 600 a.c. it was rebuilt between 1491-1498. Actually it hosts the "Holy Shroud". Next public exhibiton of the Shroud will be in 2010.

Questo è il Duomo di Torino dedicato a San Giovanni Battista Paatrono della città. Costruito agli inizi dell'anno 600 d.c. venne ricostruito tra il 1491 e il 1498. Attualmente ospita la "Sacra Sindone". La prossima ostensione della Sindone avverrà nel 2010.

I showed the Cathedral of Torino last time in August (---> HERE) and I would like to let you see how it looks like by night. Built the first time at beginning of 600 a.c. it was rebuilt between 1491-1498. Actually it hosts the "Holy Shroud" that will be exhibited in 2010.

Ho mostrato il Duomo di Torino lo scorso Agosto (---> QUI) e mi piace, ora, mostrarlo come appare di notte. Costruito agli inizi dell'anno 600 d.c. venne ricostruito tra il 1491 e il 1498. Attualmente ospita la "Sacra Sindone" che verrà ostensa nel 2010.

Il Duomo

This is The Torino Cathedral taken in foggy early morning. In its crypt there is what people call "The Holy Shroud" (I'll post soon a photo of it). HERE you can find more detail about it.

One of people's favourite part of Torino

One of people's favourite part of Torino is this corner. In front the dome of S.Lorenzo's Church (by Guarino Guarini) in piazza Castello, on the right: piazzetta Reale and Palazzo Reale (Royal Palace) with, in the background: the dome of the Cathedral of Torino. The best? At same time I got this photo: at blue time, when Torino is blue !

Una delle zone di Torino favorite alla gente è quest'angolo. Di fonte la cupola della Chiesa di S.Lorenso (di Guarino Guarini) in piazza Castello, sulla destra: Piazzetta Reale e Palazzo Reale con, sullo sfondo, la cupola del Duomo. Il meglio? Alla stessa ora in cui ho scattato questa foto: all'ora blu, quando Torino è blu !

3rd and last Step: The Negative

Turned in Negative, pale coloured, worked a bit in centre with light and saturation editor... We get the visage. Now the question is: who's him? Nobody, in my opinion, can reply being sure. I took this photo last Monday from a copy (photo) of the "Holy Shroud". The original is hosted by the Cathedral of Torino and will be exhibited in 2010. Tomorrow I will show the whole image I took there --- Everyone of us sees what we feel to see...

Volto in Negativo, debolmente colorata, lavorato al centro con l'editor colore per saturazione e luce... Ed ecco il volto. Ora la domanda è: chi è? Nessuno a mio avviso può rispondere con certezza. Ho fotografato questa immagine lo scorso Lunedì dalla copia fotografica del "Sacro Lino". L'originale, conservato presso il Duomo di Torino, verrà ostenso nel 2010. Domani mostrerò l'intera immagine --- Ognuno di noi vede ciò che sente di vedere...

La Consolata 1

From the church to a cafe. La Consolata is another work by Guarino Guarini like the Cathedral and the church of San Lorenzo. Honestly speaking just to see Barocco Piemontese and Guarini's work Torino worth to be visited. Last but not the least this church is situated in this small place where was born il Bicerin.... All to taste ! --- More to come.

Dalla chiesa verso un bar. La Consolata è un'altra realizzazione di Guarino Guarini come il Duomo e la chiesa di San Lorenzo. Onestamente non foss'altro che per vedere il Barocco Piemontese e le opere del Guarini, Torino merita di essere visitata. Holy Shroud - Work in Progress

They are working around and inside Torino's Cathedral where the Holy Shroud will be exhibited from 10 April through 23 May. Few place are still available. Santuario di Maria Consolatrice

I took and showed many photo of this church but from different angles. It's the Sanctuary of Maria Consolatrice more popular in Torino as "La Consolata". It's another building realized by Guarino Guarini as the Torino's Cathedral and the magnificent San Lorenzo's Church.

Ho scattato e mostrato più foto di questa Chiesa ma da diverse angolazioni. E' il Santuario di Maria Consolatrice più nota a Torino come La Consolata. E' un altra realizzazione di Guarino Guarini come il Duomo e la stupenda Chiesa di San Lorenzo.

In line to see the Shroud

People are in line (into Royal Gardens) for arriving to the path that take to the cathedral of Torino where the Shroud is exhibited. Next days I will show you principal steps of the path

Persone in coda per la Sindone. Qui sono sul tratto di strada (nell'area dei Giardini reali) che li porta verso l'inizio del percorso che li condurrà in Duomo. Nei prossimi giorni mostrerò i punti principali che compongono l'intero percorso.
