Villa La Tesoriera

Torino, photo of the I8th-century villa called "La tesoriera" because was built for a treasurer of the Savoy monarchy. It was designed by Jacopo Maggi that was inspired by the genius of Guarino Guarini. At the moment it's a public library and hosts civil marriage.

Torino, foto de La Tesoriera costruita nel XVIII secolo vene chiamata "La Tesoriera" perché di proprietà di Aymo Ferrero di Cocconato, tesoriere dello Stato Sabaudo. Venne progettata da Jacopo Maggi che si ispirò al genio di Guarino Guarini. Oggi è biblioteca pubblica della pertinente Circoscrizione e ospita unioni civili.

Street Lamps

San Lorenzo the Dome part 2

San Lorenzo the Dome

Torino, photo of a detail in the Church San Lorenzo. The detail concern the dome. The church has been originally designed by Ascanio Vitozzi and Carlo di Castellamonte but his definitive outlook -how we see it now- is thanks to the genius of Guarino Guarini. The dome it's very particular with those 8 ribs that go to form an octagon. It is surrounded by eight windows and the second one (lantern) by six. Please give a look to the second higher dome (the lantern) where ribs go to build a eight points star in armony with first dome. --- To better realize this particular architecture I'll post along this week another photo taken by one side of the Church.

Originalmente disegnata da Ascanio Vitozzi e Carlo di Castellamonte, la vediamo oggi come è stata rivista dal genio di Guarino Guarini. La cupola è molto particolare con lei 8 nervature che vanno a formare un ottagono. E' circondata da otto finestre e la seconda (lanterna) da sei. Si prega di dare un'occhiata alla seconda cupola più alta (la lanterna) dove le costole vanno a costruire una stella a otto punti in armonia con la prima cupola. --- Per capire meglio questa particolare architettura posterò nel corso di questa settimana un'altra foto scattata da un lato della chiesa.

Mole Antonelliana the Elevator

Torino, photo of the panoramic elevator (the cabin has transparent walls) inside the Mole Antonelliana that hosts the National Museum of the Cinema. With almost 500.000 visitors per year is one of most visited museum in Italy.

Theme Day: Façade

Originally designed by the genius of Filippo Juvarra, it is another UNESCO World Heritage Site. For the July Theme Day this absolutely wonderful Façade is my choice. --- Check other "Façade" around the world !

City of Music

Torino, photo of the banner "Città della Musica". Since last Saturday until today Torino is City of Music: a whole week where in many square and arcade there are several music session (classic, tango and other genre of music).

Pinacoteca Giovanni e Marella Agnelli

Torino, photo taken on the rooftop of the Lingotto (an incredible building designed in 1915, yes nineteen fifteen, by Mattè Trucco, with a test track e two parabolic curves). The Pinacoteca has been designed and built by Renzo Piano in 1985. In the picture-gallery painting of Canaletto, Canova, Manet, Renoir,  Tiepolo, Matisse, Picasso, Modigliani, Balla and Severini. More than a good reason to visit Torino.

Torino, foto scattata sul tetto del Lingotto (una straordinaria opera progettata nel 1915 da Mattè Trucco con la pista per provare le auto e due curve paraboliche). La Pinacoteca è stata invece costruita da Renzo Piano nel 1985. Contiene dipinti di Canaletto, del Canova, di Manet, di Renoir, del Tiepolo, di Matisse, di Picasso, di Modigliani, del Balla e del Severini. Più che un'ottima ragione per visitare Torino.
