25 Aprile - La Liberazione

Well today is April the 25. In 1945 with the renewal of the Allied offensive, Italian Committee of National Liberation (CLN) started a general insurrection and liberated Torino and Milano from Nazist and Fascist. This is a mile stone from where was born the Italian Republic. Of course more on it on Wikipedia HERE -- Each year on 24th of April the night, in Torino, there's a torchlight procession and is... Moving to see how many young people are coming. The Italian caption will be different from the English version. I beg your pardon.

Yes, good that your young people still know and care. I am glad Torino was liberated. I was shocked to read your Wiki link that tells how the Germans and Cossacks were planning to annex parts of Italy.

Here we are having Memorial Day for the fallen.

I remember watching the US Army tanks coming into the towns and cities in Italy. It was liberty for those who were ruled by Benito Mussolini, II Duce and his fascist party. The people strung him up by his heels along with his mistress. We saw it all at the theatre where they showed the RKO Pathe News at the beginning or before the movie started.

I am pleased Dina that the wiki helped to better understand what the 25th of April, each year, means for us.

Abe, you remember absolutely well and vivid what happened in those day. Thank you for your contribution !
