Pasta Defilippis

Since 1934 Defilippis produce any kind of pasta. It's an artigianal production in their workroom in via Lagrange 39. It's probably the best pasta store in Torino.

Sergio Chiamparino the Mayor

This is the Mayor of Torino, Sergio Chiamparino. He is the most loved Mayor from citizens in Italy. I'm desolated about the poor qualty of the photo but I was far and I zoomed him. He was commemorating the April 25, 1945: Italian Liberation's day from Nazists and Fascists.

25 Aprile - La Resistenza

Well today is April the 25. In 1945 with the renewal of the Allied offensive, italian Committee of National Liberation (CLN) started a general insurrection and liberated Torino and Milano from Nazist and Fascist. This is a mile stone from where born the Italian Republic. Of course more on it on Wikipedia HERE -- Each year on 24th the night, in Torino, there's a torchlight procession and is... Moving to see those so many young people to come. Tomorrow the second and last photo and now, for once, the Italian caption will be different from the English version. I beg your perdon.

The Olympic Village in the background and a love graffiti in foreground: "Principessa ti amo" = "Princess I love you"

April raining

A skyline of the city with clouds heavy of rain. April it's usually the month deputed to rain. Yesterday morning there was a weak sun and now is raining again. Contrary to most people, I love rain and when it rains my fear is that it will stop soon...

Goodmorning Tibet

Just today I stopped by the Olympic Pedestrian Bridge because I saw these Tibet Demonstrators under pouring rain. From Torino Olympic Motto: Passion Lives Here (see yesterday) they changed it in Repression Lives Here over 5 bloodstained olympics rings...

Both in Red

The girl and the Arch: both in red... Because Passion Lives Here --- And, as my friends Antonella and Luca say: Passion *Still* Lives Here.

La ragazza e l'Arco: entrambi in rosso... Perché la Passione Vive Qui --- E, come dicono i miei amici Antonella e Luca: Passion *Still* Lives Here.

Lingotto the skyline

This the skyline of Lingotto seen by the Olympic Pedestrian Bridge (see next days) that link the Olympic Village to Lingotto. As you can see (maybe enlarging it), on the top La Bolla and on the left the Pinacoteca Giovanni e Marella Agnelli (in foreground: a part the man in bicycle the two Segway. I love it !).

Sad Day

Though I love rain, yesterday was a sad day first of all 'cause my computer got beagle-virus (not yet completely removed), second because Italians trusted him (see saturday the 12th, photo)...

Lingotto 2 - The court

Lingotto (that in English is 'bar' like a 'gold bar') is composed by two parallel buildings closed at both short sides and the track test run over the roof from one building to the other one curving over short sides. -- If you enlarge it you can see in the background Monviso top.

This the aerial view by Google Earth:

Lingotto 1 - Eliporto

Here you can realize how the architect Renzo Piano solves the requirement about heliport. It's appear as in balance with La Bolla conference room...

4 Seasons

Fours seasons in Piemonte. From down right: Spring - Boiled Egg with fondue and sparrow-grass # Summer: Flan of basil with tomato cream and mozzarella cheese # Fall: Small fillet of deer with polenta at chestnut # Winter: ...Bagna Caoda... That is pronounced: Bagna Cauda and it's a typical Piemontese Winter dish. It's prepared with anchovies, garlic and oil; slowly boiled for hours is served boiling with winter vegetables. It tastes unique especially this one cooked, another time by Ugo Fontanone of "La Taverna di Fra Fiusch" -- Another good reason to visit Torino ;-)

Quattro stagioni in Piemonte.

Pinacoteca Giovanni e Marella Agnelli

In this futuristic building (also designed by Renzo Piano) on the rooftop of Lingotto (opposite to La Bolla, see next days), there's the Pinacoteca Giovanni and Marella Agnelli (<--- Please click on the link). This is a gift that Giovanni Agnelli left to Torino, his city. All paints exposed inside in fact come from family personal collection. There are paints by Canaletto, Canova, Manet, Renoir, Tiepolo, Matisse, Picasso, Modigliani, Balla and Severini

This is another jewel unique in Italy that deserves just to travel to Torino...

Lingotto - La Bolla

This is La Bolla: a crystal enormous ball balanced with heliport (see next days) with a 360 degree panoramic view all over, deputated to conference room. Lingotto building has been revised by Renzo Piano since 1985 and now it's the most important Conference and Business Centre in Torino. Enlarging the photo it's possible to see the parabolic curve that turn on the other building parallel to this one where I took the photo.

This is the same ramp (that it's not round but ellipsoidal) taken at middle level from the ground. Tomorrow the rooftop and the new buildings on the top.

I'm not really into today Theme day (water) but I would like to show you this fountain that it's called "of 12 months" because there is a statue of each month of the year all around the basin (I'll take it better in advanced Spring). It has been built in 1898 by an artist call Carlo Ceppi. It's also known as "la fontana del Ceppi"
